Country Kids were first published in the 1980's. They have been republished at the request of parents who remember them from their schooling, and who want their children to enjoy them in the same way they did.
Country Kids are written in the natural free-flowing language of children, and tell of many aspects of life in country Australia, including, a calf being born, a sick chook and a devastating bushfire.
The books are not graded for difficulty, so that individual children can select books around their interests. Teachers might use some of the titles for repeated readings. Parents and children might read the books at home, and talk, laugh and cry together. |
